Sleep

Do you have trouble getting to sleep? Maybe you find it difficult to switch off from your day or to stop worrying about the day to come? Perhaps you fall asleep, but wake several times in the night, and are unable to get back to sleep. If you wake up exhausted on a regular basis, it’s likely that you have a sleep issue. It is important to check that there are no underlying physical reasons for insomnia or sleep problems so you should always talk to your doctor.

Sleep is something that everybody needs. It allows our bodies to rest and repair, and allows our minds to process the day’s events. A lack of quality sleep has been linked to both physical and mental health issues, such as high blood pressure, obesity, and anxiety. A prolonged lack of sleep affects concentration, problem-solving skills, work performance, and increases irritability, impacting on our personal relationships too.

Along with good sleep hygiene, hypnosis has been found to ease these problems, along with the issues of nightmares, sleep terrors, bed wetting, and sleepwalking. Hypnotherapy can help teach you how to relax – this is a skill which doesn’t always come naturally – and can show you how to establish, and stick to, an effective sleep routine. If you believe you know what has triggered your sleep problems, I can help you to work through this using psychotherapeutic tools, and we can then use hypnosis to reinforce this in your subconscious.
